Non verbal communication is a medium of communication through gestures,postures,body language etc.
Gestures can communicate differently and quite oppositely in various regions.If a gesture might be appreciated by someone in one region but at the same time the same gesture might be opposed by other country people.The various gestures around the world with different meanings are:
1.SHOWING THE THUMB:
In united states it is a symbol of good job.
In Ghana an insult.
In Germany the number one.
In Japan number five.
In malasiya this symbol is used to point something rather than a finger.
In North America and Europe people support and tend to motivate for perfect eye contact but in Asian countries like Japan,Korean will treat it as a ride thing.
In countries like America and England will treat this symbol as okay, good.But in Latin America and france it was treated as an insult. Just like showing the middle finger.
3.SHOWING THUMBS UP:
In America and Europe it was considered as good and also a sign of appreciation but in many Asian and Islamic countries it was treated as an insult.
4.PUTTING FEET ON TABLE:
Generally putting feet on table is not considered as an offensive in America and England. However in Thailand it was treated as a ride thing to practise.
In countries like America and England calling someone to come to you by indexing your curling finger is a right thing but in countries like Japan and Singapore it was treated as death.
5.RAISING UP YOUR HAND:
Raising up your hand means to stop in England and in America.In some Asian countries it was used to seek permission to speak to others.
6.HANDS ON HIPS:
Putting your hands in hips and standing in a straight manner describes open and confident posture in America and England.In some East Asian countries it was treated as arrogance.It was treated as extremely rude in Indonesia.
In this the meaning of gestures will change from one country to another.It was very interesting right,of course it will be interesting.
